St Therese Preschool & Long Day Care was the first early childhood service established in 2019 by Sydney Catholic Early Childhood Services (SCECS).
The National Quality Standard (NQS) sets a national benchmark for the quality of children’s education and care services across Australia. Services are assessed against the NQS by the state or territory regulatory authority and receive a rating for each of the seven quality areas of the NQS, as well as an overall rating.
“An overall rating of Exceeding NQS is given to services that go above and beyond the requirements of the NQS in at least four of the seven quality areas. SCECS gaining an exceeding rating in all areas, speaks to the talent and passion our staff hold and to the professional development and support our management team provides,” explained SCECS Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Franceyn O’Connor.
“We are very proud to be recognised for exceeding in all areas and the results are testament to the qualified and dedicated team that we have here at St Therese Preschool & Long Day Care. We pride ourselves on providing an outstanding education and care service, as well as wrap around services that provide outreach to our families and the community,” said Centre Director, Anitha Arul.
“This rating recognises the services commitment to providing exemplary Early Childhood Education and Care that supports the individual needs of each child, their family and the local community. The staff’s pedagogical practises provide strong foundations for children, empathising the service’s strengths within inclusive teachings and practices, as well as sustainability,” said Mrs O’Connor.
The state-of-the-art purpose built centre is a place of both “education and evangelisation” and offers places for 40 children aged between 2-6 years of age.
The National Quality Framework (NQF) for early childhood education and care was agreed by all Australian governments to get better educational and development outcomes for children using education and care services. Implementation of the NQF is guided by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA)
St Therese Preschool & Long Day Care was the first of a number of centres planned for the Archdiocese of Sydney, with another preschool currently operating in Auburn, another in Rosebery opening its doors in 2022, and others planned for Austral and Caringbah in the near future.
